El Hormiguero Mocks Pedro Sánchez With Carlos Latre, Invites Him to Visit the Show

October 7, 2026

Pedro Sánchez was not on El Hormiguero, but for a few minutes it almost didn’t matter. Carlos Latre returned to transform himself into the President of the Government on the very day when political news had placed his name at the center of the conversation following the announcement of general elections for the upcoming November 29.

Pablo Motos’s show decided to tackle the news first through humor. Latre appeared in character as the person that El Hormiguero calls the “action double” of Pedro Sánchez, reproducing his gestures, his way of speaking, and turning the day’s political news into material for parody.

He is not exactly a new character for Latre. His return to El Hormiguero this season began by embodying Sánchez again, after two years away from the show and after leading Babylon Show on Telecinco. That comeback was one of the main novelties of the season 21 premiere, as we noted when reviewing Carlos Latre’s return to the Antena 3 program.

From Latre’s Imitation to a Real Invitation for Pedro Sánchez

The curiosity came immediately afterward. Once the parody had ended, Pablo Motos changed tone and revealed that El Hormiguero had been in contact with La Moncloa in the afternoon to convey its desire to actually interview Pedro Sánchez.

That is to say, within a few minutes the program went from presenting the president as played by Carlos Latre to trying to secure the real person for an interview.

The invitation arrives at a moment that is especially significant. Sánchez announced on October 5 the dissolution of the Cortes and the calling of general elections for Sunday, November 29, a decision officially communicated in an institutional statement from La Moncloa.

Motos justified the program’s interest in featuring the president and highlighted that the moment opens a “very important moment” for citizens ahead of the new ballot.

For now there has been no announcement that Pedro Sánchez has accepted the proposal, nor is there a date for a possible interview. If it finally takes place, it would also be one of the season’s big guests, as El Hormiguero is once again emphasizing its usual mix of promotion, entertainment, and current affairs.

The question now is whether a name will end up joining that list, one that was already on the show tonight, even if only through Carlos Latre: Pedro Sánchez.
