SkyShowtime has released the official trailer for the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, which will arrive on the platform in Spain on October 31 with new episodes premiering weekly. Michael C. Hall will reprise the role of Dexter Morgan, but the preview makes clear that his new troubles go beyond deciding who deserves to end up on his table.
The new season places the character between two very different killers: one with decades of crimes behind him and another capable of spreading fear across New York with methods unlike anything Dexter has faced so far. Added to that pressure is a foe far less typical in the franchise: his own midlife crisis.
There’s one recurring element that will mark the comeback. After two decades with Michael C. Hall associated with the character, Dexter: Resurrection incorporates the passage of time into the fiction rather than pretending nothing has changed. Dexter still carries a dark passenger, but he is no longer the same man we met in Miami.
Two Killers and a Relationship Growing More Complicated with Harrison
The other central axis remains Harrison, portrayed by Jack Alcott, who continues his own quest for justice. Father and son dive into a particularly dark chapter of their story, with the boundary between Dexter’s methods and Harrison’s choices becoming increasingly difficult to separate.
The season also adds as regulars Brian Cox, Dan Stevens, Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson. Cox and Stevens step into that newly revealed board of threats around Dexter, while Uma Thurman returns after appearing in the first installment.
Also returning are Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Desmond Harrington and James Remar. Krysten Ritter will appear as a guest, and Gabriel Luna, whose signing for the second season broadened the roster of killers surrounding Dexter, also joins as a guest star.
The assembly of these new characters is no small detail. The first season rebuilt Dexter’s universe around New York; the second aims to exploit that setting to turn the city into a territory where Dexter is no longer necessarily the most dangerous predator in the room.
SkyShowtime Premieres Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection on October 31
In Spain, the second season will debut on October 31 on SkyShowtime, with new episodes released weekly. The date aligns with Halloween and also coincides with the 20th anniversary of the original Dexter, which premiered in 2006.
The Spanish SkyShowtime catalog also allows viewers to follow almost the entire arc of the character before the comeback. Currently available are “Dexter,” “Dexter: New Blood,” “Dexter: Original Sin,” and the first season of “Dexter: Resurrection.”
Season 2 therefore begins from a curious position for a franchise that has already tested more than one ending. This time the question isn’t how to bring Dexter back again, but what to do with a character who ages, has a son walking his own path, and starts encountering killers capable of challenging the center of the story.
