The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, will visit David Broncano’s La Revuelta next week, according to The Objective, which reported this Tuesday, November 3. The outlet names Monday, November 9 as the likely date for the interview on La 1, although neither RTVE nor Vox have officially confirmed the event yet.
The potential meeting comes in the middle of the pre-campaign for the general elections on November 29, four days before the start of the electoral campaign if it ultimately takes place on the 9th. The possibility has a clear precedent: Broncano had publicly opened his show to the main candidates and, since October, several of them have begun appearing on the set.
From the public invitation to a possible date for Abascal
The host proposed in October to invite the candidates from PSOE, PP, Vox and the Broad Front to his program. The initiative has been shaping up with visits that shift the show’s focus for a night: from interviews with actors, musicians and other faces of culture to conversations with those aspiring to become President of the Government.
Pedro Sánchez attended on Thursday, October 22. On Tuesday the 27th, Irene Montero and Gabriel Rufián did so in a joint interview. The Objective adds that Ada Colau has expressed willingness to attend and that, for the moment, there is no public response yet from Alberto Núñez Feijóo to the invitation.
Two political interviews have already driven the show to exceptional ratings
The television impact of these visits has a concrete measure. RTVE published on November 3 that the interview with Sánchez reached a 33.9% audience share and an average of 4,387,000 viewers. The Montero and Rufián edition recorded 21.7% and 2,654,000 viewers, the second-best share in the program’s history.
To put these results into perspective, the October monthly average for ‘La Revuelta’ was 14.1% share and 1,716,000 viewers, according to the same network’s statement. The political visits have stood out even within a month particularly favorable to the format, although the audience for a potential Abascal interview cannot yet be anticipated.
The significance for RTVE goes beyond the audience figure. The conversation with political leaders unfolds in the humor, improvisation, and crowd rapport that characterize Broncano’s style, yet facing an electoral date where the public broadcaster must uphold its obligations of pluralism. The show’s future and its contract through 2028 had already entered the public debate before this possible visit became known.
For now, regarding the Abascal interview, the program’s formal announcement is still pending, which must specify whether the interview will finally take place on November 9 and when it will be aired.
