Netflix will premiere on Friday, October 23, 2026, ‘Grande de España’, a Spanish six-episode dramedy starring Antonio de la Torre and Alexandra Jiménez. The series, set in Madrid, reunites Álvaro Fernández-Armero and Juan Cavestany, the minds behind ‘Vergüenza’ and ‘Sentimos las molestias’.
Don Leandro has a noble title, a family mansion, and an obsession with keeping up appearances. What he lacks is money. De la Torre’s character, an insolvent marquis who dreams of earning the dignity of Grande de España, is forced to sell the house to climb out of the financial hole he finds himself in. Then Sofía Carrington, a wealthy businesswoman played by Jiménez, appears and seems to be the ideal buyer.
The real estate operation soon spirals out of control. Between negotiations, hidden interests and seduction games, both characters begin to discover that the image they project is quite far from reality. The contrast between a fortune-less nobility and wealth that does not need a family name is the starting point of the story.
The creators of ‘Vergüenza’ return to the uncomfortable comedy
The duo of Álvaro Fernández-Armero and Juan Cavestany writes and directs the six episodes. Their joint return is one of the main attractions of the project. In ‘Vergüenza’ they turned others’ embarrassment and the inability to recognize one’s own mistakes into comedy; in ‘Sentimos las molestias’ they explored generational clashes through two veteran musicians.
Now the focus shifts to social hierarchies, wealth, and the difference between having status and being able to pay for it. Leandro belongs to a downtrodden aristocracy, but he resists abandoning his symbols. Across from him stands a woman with the resources to acquire what he is trying to preserve. The house is both the object of the sale and the representation of everything the marquis fears losing. The conflict fits with the creators’ interest in characters trapped by their own contradictions.
The fiction is produced by Cuidado con el perro, a company founded by Fernández-Armero, Cavestany and Alicia Yubero, which also participates in the executive production. After their previous work for Movistar Plus+, this is their first Netflix series, as confirmed by the platform’s official announcement.
Cast and where to watch ‘Grande de España’
Joining the leads are Enric Benavent, Fernando Andina, Teresa Rabal, Mercedes Sampietro, and Celia de Molina. They are faces from different generations of Spanish cinema and television, gathered in a story in which money, personal ambitions, and family prestige feed the comedy.
‘Grande de España’ will be available on Netflix Spain from October 23. Its Spanish page already includes the trailer and cast information. Netflix has announced a global release for that day and has confirmed that the season consists of six episodes.
The production adds to a Spanish catalog where Netflix alternates comedies with suspense novel adaptations. The difference here lies in the creative duo: Fernández-Armero and Cavestany return to television fiction with a marquis who needs to sell his house, but seems unable to detach from the image he has of himself.
